My children have seen both Dr. Patel and Dr. Myers. I called for an appointment, with whomever was available, because our daughter has been vomiting intermittently and experiencing intermittent diarrhea with a worsening cough. We've treated at home for 4 days and realize there is something more serious occurring. Even though we are existing patients with an emergency situation Marina, the front office receptionist, would not fit us in to the afternoon from 230 on (I was asking for any time 230 or later). She offered either a 1 pm or 1:45 pm appointment that neither my husband or I could make due to distance from work and time needed to pick our daughter up and get her to the appointment. I explained all of this and requested that the doctor be asked if it was okay to fit her in. The response was no - just go to urgent care. In my opinion you have a PCP so you can work with someone who knows you and your history. I especially desire this when it comes to my children. My husband brought our daughter into the office in one last attempt to see our own doctor. There were no patients in the waiting room and seemingly not much going on in the office. Marina told my husband "I already told your wife we wouldn't see her today". After taking our daughter to urgent care she was diagnosed with influenza and an ear infection. We are encouraged to follow up with her pediatrician. Our pediatrician office did not have enough compassion or bed side manner to fit us in for this more urgent situation and I'm disappointed. The doctors are good when you are in the room with them but you cannot count on this practice to meet true needs when you have them. We are not parents that bring our kids in on a weekly or even monthly basis for sniffles or cough. Our daughter also has a history of ear infections. If we were at all valued as patients her history should have been reviewed and taken into consideration prior to simply deciding not to fit us in. We will find a new Pediatrician for our children.
